Journalists fromArsTechnicahave in fact carried out a rather interesting comparison between different versions of iOS since version 10.3.3. They also used fairly old iPhones and iPads, the machines that theoreticallywould benefit most from iOS 12 performance optimization. iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 Plus and iPad mini 2 have therefore undergone the tests.
Here are the launch time results for several iOS applications:

In short, we can observe that on all the devices tested, iOS 12 in GM version, theoretically the equivalent of the final version, isfaster than iOS 11, when launching apps in any case.
The time differences appear highest between iOS 11 and 12 with the oldest iPhone still compatible with the latest version, i.e. the model5S. In addition to this, in 5 out of 9 cases,iOS 12 is even better than iOS 10 on iPhone 5S. The data would be similar according to ArsTechnica, for the iPhone 6 Plus, between iOS 10 and iOS 12.
The report specifies that in terms of keyboard use, the differences between iOS 12 and iOS 11 seem barely perceptible. For our part, with an iPhone 6 Plus, the difference isblatantfor the speed of displaying letters written on the keyboard. In our opinion, iOS 12 does much better on this point than iOS 11. This is clearly felt.
