Apple tightens protection against unlocking boxes to plug into iPhone: 1 hour maximum under iOS 12

We
have spoken to you several times
a new tool called "GrayKey"
shaped like a small box costing $15,000 to $30,000 and used
by government agencies and police services, and which allows
crack any password-protected iPhone model running
iOS 11.

With iOS 11.3, to protect user privacy,Apple had taken
measurements
to fight against this tool by implementinga
protection which limits to 7 days
the time the police have to
unlock an iOS device. And now in iOS 12, that time is
much shorter

Indeed, under iOS 12, Apple has toughened the protection against
unlocking to plug into iPhone, sinceafter a
hour
If the device has not been unlocked, the Lightning port is
completely disabled therefore preventing the use of the GrayKey tool which
requires to be connected to the socket to operate, but also other
USB accessories.

For this it is necessaryactivate a new optionsign it
Apple added in the iOS 12 settings, this is located in
Settings>Touch ID et code, it is enough
then check the option "USB accessories".

Note that it is enough tounlock the device to reactivate the
port Lightning
and that this does notdoes not deactivate the function
recharge
you port Lightning.

This measure is not only used to block GrayKey, but also other
methods like those used by the Cellebrite company which also require
probably access to the Lightning port.
