Since the start of the week, you can install iOS 18.4 on your iPhone. This update finally brings Apple Intelligence in France for compatible devices, but also, as usual, its share of inconvenience. You may have heard of the bug that makesresuscitate the deleted applications, as didiOS 17.5 with the photos last year.
Unfortunately, this is not the only concern encountered by users. After several days of use, many testimonies emerge regarding problems with Carplay, the interface that connects the iPhone to the car.
Dashboards that lose their bearings
According to several discussions on Reddit, the main problem concerns the display of information in the vehicle dashboard. Many drivers report thatmusical information no longer appears on the instrumentation screentheir car since the update.
A particularly frustrating dysfunction whichtouch a wide range of modelsIncluding the Honda Civic Hybrid 2025, Mazda CX-30 2025, various Honda 2024, several Volkswagen, the Audi S3 2023 and the Nissan Frontier 2023.
Other users testify toeven more serious problems.Some indicate that Carplay simply refuses to start after update, sometimes requiring up to five connection attempts before working. Siri's audio also seems to be affected, even after restarting the iPhone and the vehicle.
Temporary solutions while waiting for a correction
Faced with these dysfunctions, users have attempted conventional solutions such as restarting their devices or resetting system parameters. However, these measures do not seem to solve problems in most cases. The only official novelty concerning Carplay in iOS 18.4 was however the addition of a third row of icons on vehicles equipped with a larger central screen. This wave of bugs is not limited to Carplay.
Other problems have been reported with iOS 18.4, including concerns to display the font size, applications in the background which close unexpectedly and indicator horses in the Dynamic Island. Apple has not yet officially recognized these problems or announced a correction. This should happen quickly with iOS 18.4.1.
