BOE excluded from subcontracting iPhone 12 and targets revised downwards

First of all, let's take stock of the most serious assumptions published so far:we expect between 85 and 90 million iPhone 12s produced by the end of the year, before their keynote which should be held inoctober. LG had until now to mainly focus on the photo sensor, whileSamsung would remain at the helm of the majority of screensexcept that of the Max model without quadruple sensor at the rear, probably designed by its South Korean competitor or BOE.

The Elec, a local online newspaper, however, claims that this company would ultimately not havenot yet accepted by Appleas a service provider for its next smartphones. It would still have one last chance to convince its potential customer by the end of the year, otherwise the company could be responsible for old models or reconditioned versions.

The door open to LG OLED

Consequently, it is LG which could recover the market for 6.1-inch panels of the iPhone 12 Max, of which20 millionsunits were reportedly ordered by Apple. To this would be added 55 million parts for the other versions (iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max).

By adding it up, we arrive at 75 million mobiles. Or approximately12 to 17% lessthan previously expected: the fault of the COVID-19 pandemic still ongoing in Asia?
