Bose unveils a new portable speaker, compatible with AirPlay 2 and Spotify Connect

The Bose brand, known for its various audio products, has just unveiled a new portable speaker, called the Portable Home Speaker. This is intended for use at home or just outside near the swimming pool or terrace.

This new speaker can connect via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. It is cylindrical in shape and can be easily transported to another room in the house or in the garden using a handle. Note that it weighs 1 kilo, so it is more of a home speaker than a portable speaker.

The user can communicate with it with Google Assistant or Alexa, in addition, the speaker also includes a “mic-off” privacy function which deactivates the microphone power to ensure that it is not recorded.

It is compatible with Spotify Connect and AirPlay 2, which allows you to stream audio to it from any iPhone or iPad. It is also possible to connect it to other AirPlay 2 compatible speakers to create a multi-room listening system.

It delivers 360° sound and according to Bose it offers deeper bass than any other speaker of this size. Two colors are offered. We can also mention IPX4 certified water resistance, therefore supporting splashes of water, but not ensuring waterproofing.

The speaker's built-in battery lasts for 12 hours and charges via a USB-C port. It can also be recharged wirelessly via a dock sold separately.

There are buttons on the top of the speaker that control power on/off, volume, play/pause, as well as skip to next tracks.

It will be available from September 19 for a price of €369.95.
