WWDC 2024 Keynote: everything you need to know about the Apple Event (potential iOS 18, macOS, Mac announcements, etc.)

Let's start by introducing the Worldwide Developer Conference: not everyone knows what it is. In short, it is theannual exhibition organized by Apple for third-party app publishers. In other words, if you publish offers on the App Store, you are the ideal target of the event. Please note, however, that the opening conference is suitable for all audiences, because Cupertino takes the opportunity to unveil some new features useful to users like you and me.

Each year, WWDC is an opportunity to discover the new major versions of most Apple operating systems. Hardware announcements are rarer there. It is possible to follow a retransmission of the keynote online, in different ways that we list in this article. Let's go.

What is the date of the Opening Keynote?

The opening keynote of the Apple Event will be held onMonday, June 10 at 10:00 a.m. California time. The presentation begins atseventeen hours in France. This should last between one hour and two hours, if Apple does not change its habits. The broadcast is planned live, but don't panic: it will also be possible to view it delayed, for those who are late.

The program

The full program of the Worldwide Developer Conferenceis available on the official Apple website. It is made up of video sessions, discussion sessions with engineers and developers from Apple and various conferences, including the opening one that we will share with you.

Normally, each day of WWDC, Apple will publish a video which summarizes new features presented during the event. In any case, this was the case in previous editions.

How to follow the WWDC opening conference?

Participate in California

Registrations are closed, but until recently it was possible to send a request to be invited to Apple Park for WWDC as a developer. The lucky winners are then drawn at random, and they have already been contacted privately. Apple Park is located in California, in the United States, in the San Francisco Bay and more precisely in the city of Cupertino. This giant donut-shaped headquarters houses more than ten thousand Tim Cook employees. The opening keynote, for its part, is organized in a large auditorium built within the same complex: the Steve Jobs Theater.

Some journalists are also invited to the Worldwide Developer Conference. They received their invitation card by email, via Apple's very selective press service.

Online

Potential and improbable announcements

iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 released

The main announcement expected at the Worldwide Developer Conference is that of the update to iOS 18.Many new features are expected with artificial intelligence on the menu, such as the ability to autocomplete your sentences when sending a message with the voice assistant Siri. iOS 18 should also mark the first major makeover of the iPhone operating system, since iOS 7. The customization of the interface would be particularly highlighted, as well as accessibility for people with disabilities. Finally, a potentialnew password manager appwould be appropriate.

Other highly anticipated updates

The software that equips the HomePod could also be updated, the same for the firmware of the AirPods. Wireless headphones sometimes welcome new features at WWDC.

No new products?

WWDC is above all an event dedicated to Apple software. The emphasis therefore risks, once again, not being placed on the presentation of new devices during the conference.

The Mac mini, however, is starting to date and has already been made official during previous editions of WWDC. Butlatest news anyway, it is better not to bet on new Macs.

Release dates

During WWDC, Appl will probably reveal the release dates of the first beta versions of its new systems:

But that's not all! It is also rumored the announcement during the event of arelease date of the Apple Vision Pro headset in France, or at least in Europe!

At the same time, expect the final versions to be announced for a release date around fall 2024. Apple could only specify the season, without day or month.

Finally, if new products are mentioned on Monday, we should also be entitled to their pre-order date and their availability date.
