Camera Control: the new feature that we weren't expecting on the iPhone 16

Apple has just presented its newiPhone 16, 16 Plus,Pro and Pro Max. The four new smartphones are all entitled to a new button, called Camera Control. With this option, called “Capture” by rumors in recent weeks, it is therefore possible to take a photo without even touching the screen.

But this button is not a single switch. Apple wanted to go further. It is thus possible to click to take a photo, to hold your finger in place to take a video, but also to use “light pressure” to enter the photo settings.

With a simple gesture of the fingertip, it is therefore possible to modify the zoom of a photo, but also the aperture of the sensor or to add a filter to the image. This new feature should allow photographers to express their creativity even better.

Concretely, it will be possible to take the perfect photo, without having to move your hand. A first click opens the camera application. A second takes a photo or video. Apple also announced that this new button would be available in third-party applications, such as Snapchat.

Visual intelligence

The arrival of this new button, coupled with the launchd’Apple intelligence, allows Apple to offer “Visual intelligence”. This new feature allows all four iPhone 16 models to use artificial intelligence to provide information to the user.

Concretely, all you have to do is take a photo of something with the Camera Control button for the iPhone to offer information about it. During a short demonstration video, Apple showed us that it worked very well on restaurant fronts, with animals to find out their breed or even with a page from a book or course. The iPhone then uses Apple Intelligence, and if necessary ChatGPT, to provide answers to our questions.
