It is perhaps the product that attracted the most attention at the end of last November's keynote. Apple was going to release a “chiffonnette” or “ploshing cloth” in its original name. If alreadythe release of such a product was enough to provoke a reaction, it was especially the price announced by Tim Cook during the presentation that made more than one person jump.
If consumers are used to Apple voluntarily, or not, raising prices, thus giving itself a certain standing, the apple brand seems to have placed the extra drop of water in the vase of discontent with of the general public.
A little piece of fabric that has caused a lot of ink to flow
This little piece of cloth is in fact sold for €25. A super high price which did not fail to provoke a reaction, as the product is simple and the price unjustified. But while everyone criticized the price positioning of the apple, the product was out of stock for a very long time, the demand being too high.
Some outside opinions then suggested that Apple had planned no, or almost no, stock. Thus explaining the rapid breakdown in the complex balance between supply and demand. But in reality, the analysts closest to the brand seem to have a more mixed opinion.
Tiny stock or record demand?
If Apple had not in fact anticipated that the product would be such a success, the brand had taken precautions so that those in a hurry could have their product as soon as it was released. If for the moment no clear figures have been released concerning Apple's production, the latter would have been "sufficient" according to some.
One thing is certain, the product was a victim of its success like other Apple devices. While the production line is slowly starting to return to a normal operating cycle, the little rag has made its return to the virtual shelves of the Cupertino company. Still at €25 each.
