Apple's takeover of Shazam examined closely by European authorities: response in 4 months

In
last December, the Cupertino firmannounced the takeover of the company
Shazam
, which provides an existing music recognition service
for many years now, however the European Commission has been
currently evaluating this buyout before approval to see if it could have
a harmful impact on competition.

The European Commission has officiallylaunch an investigation
in-depth on Shazam's takeover
which will allow him to decide whether
it validates or blocks the acquisition of the musical recognition service by
the apple firm.

The European Commission fears that this acquisition of Shazam by Apple will
limit the choice of music streaming services for
users
of the music recognition service and favor Apple
Music.

After opening the investigation, the European Commission90
days
to make a decision, so we should know this one
September 4, 2018, shortly before the back-to-school keynote where Apple
should unveil the new iPhone 2018, Apple Watch, but also perhaps
other new products.

Over the years, the iOS app
available here on the App Store
received many improvements, such as
an independent app that can be used with the Apple Watch Series 3 even without an iPhone
proximity, or even since iOS 8 the possibility ofask
Siri to recognize a song
via Shazam.

While waiting to know the verdict of the European Commission, Shazam has
published last Februaryfirst
update since the buyout announcement
by Apple, which offers a
new design of identification pages, a new menu and various links
fast.
