The iPhone 13 would have the same amount of RAM as its predecessor: 4 GB. In any case, this is what seems to have spottedMacRumors, based on an in-depth analysis of Xcode software. This allows you to update your apps for iOS 15, and has already been the source of several similar leaks, notably when an Internet user realized thatthe processor of the Apple Watch Series 7 was also identical to that of the previous version.
The situation repeats itself with the other mobile models announced duringTuesday evening's conference (our summary). The iPhone 13 mini therefore also has 4 small GB of RAM, compared to 6 for the iPhone 13 Pro and 6 also for the iPhone 13 Pro Max. But then, why hasn't Apple thought about improving this key characteristic of its emblematic devices?
The CPU to the rescue
In reality, the answer is probably also found inside the body of the iPhone 13. It is in fact powered by a proprietary chip, the new A15 Bionic. Divided into six cores including two for performance and four with “high energy efficiency” according to the manufacturer, the part also includes the graphics card and an artificial intelligence engine. This is the Neural Engine, already present on iPhone 12 and made up of sixteen cores.
Coupled with the also homemade iOS 15 operating system, the A15 Bionic is announced as “faster than the competition” by Apple. Its version for iPhone 13 Pro Max, with an additional core within the GPU, is even displayed as “the fastest smartphone chip“. While these statements should certainly be considered with caution, they still underline Apple's confidence in its technology, which probably explains why its engineers did not consider it necessary to improve the RAM.
Price and release date
The iPhone 13s will be open for pre-order tomorrow at 2 p.m. Deliveries, for their part, will arrive from September 24; a week later. As for prices, they start at 809 euros for the iPhone 13 mini, 909 euros for the 6.1-inch iPhone 13, 1,159 euros for the iPhone 13 Pro and 1,259 euros for the iPhone 13 Pro Max.
