After a quarter of a century of a successful career at Apple,And Ricciois about to retire from the adventure. Many major projects have seen the light of day under his leadership; he has played a very important role in the engineering department within the firm since his arrival. It's quite simple, almost no Apple product has passed through its expert eye.
A remarkable career
And Ricciojoined Apple in 1998after having acquired solid experience as a mechanical design engineer at Compaq. Hired as product design manager, he supervised the design and engineering of almost all of the Apple brand's products.
A driving force in hardware engineering within the company, he was named vice president of iPad Hardware Engineering in 2010. Two years later, he was integrated into management as head of the Hardware Engineering department.
He saw the birth of the very first iMacs and worked on the M1 chip Macs (including the 2021 version, which still offersstrong performance). He also worked on the development ofAirPods Maxor even onl’iPhone 12. Riccio contributed significantly to the development of Face ID and Touch ID technologies. Since 2021, he has held the position ofsenior vice president of hardware engineeringand catalyzed the process of Apple's independence from Intel.
Towards new horizons
The realization of the projectApple Vision Prounder the direction of Riccio wasthe peak of his career. Even if no departure date has been officially formulated, this is certainly a harbinger of a probable rearrangement of the engineering hierarchy within Apple.
Some speculation is emerging around the future role of current head of the Apple Vision Pro group, Mike Rockwell, but nothing has been confirmed.
