In April 2022, the first connected glasses from thepartnership between Ray-Ban and Metaarrived on the market. The first frame marketed wasthe “Stories” modelfor an amount of around 300 euros. Since then, both brands have launched new pairs, which are now compatible with the serviceApple Music.
What are Ray-Bans for? Meta?
Before presenting today's novelty, let's recall some general information about Ray-Ban | Meta. First of all, contrary to what one might think, they are not like in science fiction films, capable of projecting a screen in an environment that we will be able to control with our fingers. This type of functionality is currently only possible on virtual, augmented, or mixed reality headsets, such as the Apple Vision Pro, or the Meta Quest.
Google had almost achieved the feat with its Google Glasses, which projected a screen in front of our eyes. It worked a bit like the Apple Vision Pro, but the interface wascontrollable thanks to a touch pad positioned on the right temple of the frame. This last point is perhaps one of those which prevented its success, just like the other argumentswhich we have already shared previously.
Being able to navigate with your hands directly interacting with multimedia elements in space, as offered by the Apple Vision Pro, seems to be a big plus.
All this to say that theRay-Ban | Metado not propose this, butonly a 12 MP camera for filming video (or for calls), microphones, and of course speakers.

You will therefore have understood that what allows you to listen to Apple Music with these glasses is its speakers, accompanied by the microphone, which allows it to control everything. As 9To5Mac reports on this subject:
With the update available for the glasses as well as the Meta View app (which allows pairing and management of Ray-Ban | Meta), users can connect their Apple Music account directly to the smart glasses. So you can control Apple Music without even having to touch your phone.
For example, you can ask Meta's virtual assistant using the “Hey Meta” command to play a song, playlist, album, station, or even artist. All hands free when wearing the glasses. There is also a new gesture that allows users to touch and hold the stem of the glasses to listen to songs recommended to them on their personal station.
When you're listening to a song, there's also a new voice command to ask the glasses to tell you the name of the song currently playing. Meta clearly states that connecting to Apple Music is done through the official API and credentials are not shared with third parties.
