Apple has just released a newbrevet, in which we discover that it could be possible to test a new iPhone in augmented reality using the Apple Vision Pro. As a reminder, the mixed reality headset has been available in France since July 12. Its operating system, visionOS, already comes with many apps that can also be found on iOS.
Of course, let us point out that as this information comes from a patent, it is not necessarily synonymous with future marketing. However, it would indeed be wise to offer tests of this type, especially when we know that Apple now requires certain consumers to go to an Apple Store to discover its products. The Vision Pro, for example, asks you to make an appointment for a trial session.
iOS works with augmented reality!
In Apple's patent, we discover that iOS seems to be emulated perfectly by visionOS, allowing the tester of the virtual iPhone to also experience its functionalities. This is also reminiscent of the recent mirroring option revealed during theWorldwide Developer Conference, and who isrecently availablefor those who have updated their mobile to beta.

The patent images show us in particular how the user could capture scenes with thecameraof the virtual iPhone, as it would with a real device. The document also mentions the possibility of testing computers of different powers, for example to get an idea of a Mac before checking out.
Beginnings with old models
This isn't the first time Apple has suggested an effective way to experience an iPhone in virtual reality. Indeed, in the past, we had already been able to download three-dimensional models of the iPhone SE 2 or other products in the same range following their announcement. You then had to go through the browserSafari, which also offers a major update with iOS 18.
- visionOS could model the iPhone to test it in virtual reality
- It would be possible to use the iPhone operating system directly from the mixed reality headset
- It's a simple patent that offers it, for the moment
