Pour
avoid road accidents, it is strongly recommended not to
use your smartphone while driving and use an in-car system instead
by a manufacturer or the Apple CarPlay or Android Auto interface
Google.
The AAA, an American road safety organization, recently carried out
a study to measure the level of distraction of different systems
embarked for the car, and determined among other things thatCarPlay
requires less attentionfrom the driver.
For this study, five systems integrated by manufacturers were
tested, as well as CarPlay and Android Auto.
The results of the study show thatCarPlay et Android Auto
require less attention than integrated systemsby the
car manufacturers.
For most tasks, CarPlay and Android Auto require a lot
less attention than integrated systems, and CarPlay even manages to climb
above Android Auto when it comesto send
texts.
On the other hand, regarding route programming, Android Auto
is considered superior to CarPlay, and much better than the systems of
builders.
It emerges from this study that the manufacturers' integrated systems
require more driver attention than CarPlay and
Android Auto, and it is therefore recommended to use the Apple solution or
Google, provided that their vehicle is compatible.
As a reminder, CarPlay allows you to leave the iPhone aside while driving while
while still being able to take advantage of certain practical features
via voice command. In addition it also has the advantage of being regularly updated
up to date, unlike third-party embedded systems.
At the same time, with iOS 12 next September, navigation apps
Waze and Google Maps will soon arrive in CarPlay.
