What is Trump's executive order against Chinese social networks worth?

This Thursday, the American presidentprohibits any transaction with ByteDance and WeChatin his country. The first of these companies publishes TikTok,about to see part of its assets bought by Microsoft, while the second is the most popular instant messaging platform in China.

This is also the basis of the incident: the close links of these applications with the country from which they are published are singled out, the accusation evoking aespionageof the daily lives of people in the United States on behalf of Beijing. One more witness to what some are already calling the “new Cold War“.

What consequences for TikTok?

For the moment, TikTok users can continue to use the app on their device without any problem.iPhone. However, this new rule simply risks being the cause of the flight of alladvertisersrelying on the social network to target their prospects... Unless an alternative is put in place by then.

And as is often the case, the changes should ultimately not be detectable on the consumer side: whether through companies established abroad playing the role ofpayment intermediaryor simply via another strategy, the flaws in this blockage are probably already studied in detail by the parties concerned.
