This year, Apple is expected to introduce a new iPhone SE. Here is its technical sheet based on the latest rumors and most relevant analyst reports.
iPhone SE 2022: design, screen and size
Design :format and design similar to the previous model released in April 2020. The edges would be rounded, and on the front, the screen would give way to two wide bands at the top and bottom of the device. iPhone SE 5G: what performance?
The iPhone SE+ would be equipped with a chipA15 Bionicof the latest generation. This is present on the most recent iPhone 13 series. This would be a step forward in terms of power compared to the iPhone SE of 2020, which was powered by an A13 Bionic chip and 3 GB of RAM. On this subject, we can predict aquantity of 4 GB of RAM for the iPhone SE+, as on the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 13 in particular.
Photo and video capabilities
Unfortunately, the iPhone SE version 2022 should not offer major improvements in photography and video. At the back, we should find a single 12-megapixel sensor, and at the front, a 7-megapixel FaceTime camera, like on the old generation. Despite everything, we can count on the power of the A15 Bionic chip and the new Neural Engine to take better photos than with the old version of the device.
Other notable features
Nom :still according to the latest information available, the name of Apple's new smartphone should simply beiPhone SE+and not iPhone SE 3. The idea being to simply translate a minor update of the iPhone SE from 2020, with a few different characteristics, but without major new features. In fact, the Californian firm would be preparing an iPhone SE 3 for 2023 or 2024. And the latter would then display a “new” design (possibly incorporating the format and case of the iPhone X or XR), with Face ID therefore, and notch . And without Touch ID or Home button.
5G compatibility:otherwise, this iPhone SE+ should benefit from 5G connectivity.
MagSafe :presumably, MagSafe should not be included on this new iPhone. However, Qi wireless charging would remain possible as on the old model.

Finishes and storage
Finishes:the 2020 iPhone SE offers 3 different finishes, white, black and red. The 2022 model could also be available in 3 finishes. Red would still be there. The “Starlight” and “Midnight” finishes seen on iPhone 13 would replace the classic white and black ones.
Storage :the iPhone 13 offers 128 GB in basic capacity. The 2022 iPhone SE could do the same and also offer 256 GB for a double choice, as on the 2020 iPhone SE (which was available in 64 or 128 GB). In 2022, it remains difficult to be satisfied with 64 GB all the same, given the size of photos and videos now. We would be surprised, in any case disappointed, to see Apple still offering such a low capacity today.
Prices and availability
Prix :the 2020 iPhone SE costs €489 in the 64 GB version and €539 in the 128 GB version. The 2022 iPhone SE would come equipped with 5G and more gigabytes. In addition, rumors on the subject suggest a price increase for this new generation compared to the old one. But Apple would still present the device as the cheapest iPhone equipped with 5G. The Californian firm would therefore logically place it below the iPhone 13 in terms of price. The latter costs 689 euros, we can imagine the iPhone SE+ priced around €530-550.
Release date:The classic schedule for an iPhone release is as follows. At the beginning of the week, Apple announced the new product during a keynote. The following Friday, pre-orders start. The following Friday, the first deliveries were made and the machine was available in the Apple Store. Here is what we would get for the iPhone SE 2022 by following the same release strategy:
- Presentation date and keynote: March 8 probably
- Pre-orders launch: March 11
- Availability in store: March 18
Except that the latest information mentions difficulties on the production lines. The release of the iPhone SE 2022 could therefore take place later, towards the end of March or even in April.
