Appeared with the iPhone 5s, Touch ID is
currently limited to unlocking the iPhone and purchasing on the App
Store. As one might expect, Apple has bigger things planned for
its fingerprint sensor.
With the arrival ofiOS 8, the Touch
ID should shift gears and open up to third-party apps.
This should offer greater possibilities in terms of security
and why no payment
Available only on the iPhone 5s, it is obvious that Touch ID will be
in the game with the iPhone 6. If we are to believe the rumor,
the next iPad modelsshould also be equipped with the sensor
of fingerprints:
Touch ID to secure apps
With iOS 8, developers will be able to choose to make their apps
Compatible with Touch ID. In other words this means that instead of
having to enter the password and username each time you connect to the app
your bank, simply place your finger to connect.
Using your finger could therefore be more reassuring than a simple word of
pass. It all depends on how you create your passwords…
Of course, while the banks will probably be very interested in this
solution, there is no doubt that they will not be the only ones. In
practical, it could well be that in the future Touch ID will replace many
password/username combinations on the iPhone and iPad.
And for shopping?
On this point, it is difficult to decide, because Apple has not really given any
details on this subject. In fact, duringthe conference of 2
June, only the identification aspect was highlighted.
However, we can imagine that shopping apps will want to go further
far from simple identification. We could then imagine being able to pay for
purchases with Touch ID and the bank card linked to the iTunes account on the net
and why not in store.
In the same spirit,
Paypal is already in the runningand said he was working hard to
Touch ID integration. Imagine a little, thanksto extensions
Safari, it may soon be possible to pay for your purchases online
with the tip of the finger.
To conclude
By opening the door to Touch ID a little more, Apple leaves developers
multiple integration possibilities.
Regarding mobile payment, if Apple has not indicated anything for the
moment, there is no doubt that in the future, the fingerprint sensor
digital will have a role to play. We could then see the applications of
electronic wallet grow greatly.
Either way, this opening up of Touch ID capabilities is a good
omen for those waiting for its arrival on the iPad
