You will not be able to use these Apple IA features before 2025

This year's new baby is Apple Intelligence, the firm's suite of features that uses artificial intelligence. It should integrate all compatible devices next fall, thanks to iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia and visionOS 2 which will probably be deployed a few days after the announcement of the iPhone 16.

However, some features that Apple introduced on June 10 are not expected to see the light of day until future upgrades, since they are currently not available inthe first developer beta versions, which are already published. This allows developers to have an idea of what will be directly integrated in the fall, but also what could come later, in iOS 18.1 (or +), iPadOS 18.1 (or +), macOS Sequoia 15.1 (or +), and visionOS 2.1 (or higher).

AI features coming later

Core Apple Intelligence features will be in beta in the fall, with improvements later. According to the information reported, here are those for which we will probably have to wait for future updates:

  • Siri :
    • Screen awareness and in-app actions:allows Siri to understand the context of what you are doing on screen and perform actions accordingly.
    • In-depth knowledge of the functions integrated into the application:Siri will use AI to have better knowledge of the functions of integrated applications and will be able, for example, to play a podcast that your partner sent you.
    • Contextual reading of content:Siri will be able to understand and process context-specific commands, such as using an image as a contact photo.
  • Apple Mail :
    • Automatic categorization of messages in the inbox:This feature uses AI to automatically organize emails.
  • New emojis integrated into iOS

Non-AI features that will be integrated in the future

Here are the features that don't explicitly use Apple Intelligence and will likely arrive later:

  • visionOS 2 :
    • Improved Mac Virtual Display
    • Multiview to watch up to five different matches simultaneously
    • Spatial video editing
  • Drag and Drop :
    • Drag and drop between iPhone and Mac
  • Application Home :
    • Support for robot vacuum cleaners
    • Visualization of domestic electricity consumption

It is also possible that some of the features mentioned here will appear in future beta versions of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia or visionOS 2. As a reminder, only iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max, and future iPhones will be able to support Apple Intelligence. It will also be interesting to observe to what extent this will impact the price of all other iPhones, whether on the second-hand market or new ones.
