Free mobile effect: after Orange, SFR and Bouygues communicate on their subscriber losses

While the start of the year was marked by significant changes
caused by the arrival ofFree Mobilein the
French mobile landscape (see ourtableau
price comparison of “post Free” iPhone packages
), Orange already has
communicated onthe impact of these movements
showing a deficit balance of 200,000 subscribers
. Since then, Bouygues then
SFR very recently also shared the balance of their subscribers on the start
2012 and they are as expected...Both
negative:

Thus, when presenting its annual results,
Bouyguesindicates havinglost 159,000 customers
dont134,000 joined Free Mobile. We imagine that erosion
could have been much stronger without the reaction of Bouygues with an offer
of its “low cost” brand B&You whichis
quickly adapted to Free prices as seen here
.

For his part,SFRannounced yesterday that he had lost159.000
clients
in mobile telephony between the start of the year and the 15th
February, this representing a drop of 1.4% on its 11.3 million customers
mobiles.

So if we do the math, we find 200,000 at Orange, 159,000 at SFR,
159,000 at Bouygues, that mathematically makes a minimum of 500,000
people who changed operator between January 1 and February 15,
but in fact it ismuch morebecause these figures are
"balances" corresponding to thedifference between new customers
(not everyone went to Free!) and departures
, they do not
also do not take into account movements among virtual operators (MVNO
such as Virgin Mobile, Carrefour, Auchan, NRJ Mobile, etc.).

This reinforces thisstart of 2012 as historic for the
mobile telephony and customers
in France: you have changed
operators in all directions!

And for those who are wondering about the price of subscriptions and a
possible migration, be aware that you can find:

And the offers on the sites of the different operators:

And you, did you change creameries at the start of the year? Of
which operator to which operator? For the better or… not
?
