Foxconn, Apple's main subcontractor, buys Belkin, Wemo and Linksys

Thegroupe Foxconnknown among other things to be the main
assembler of the iPhone and other Apple products, also provides
components to the Cupertino company, and it is now interested in
field of tech accessories and connected objects for the home.

Indeed, Foxconn has just announced thebuyout of Belkinpour
the sum of$866 million, an acquisition which
also includesLinksys, Wemo, Phynand other companies
owned by Belkin.

Belkin became known for its premium accessories for
smartphones, such as cases, screen protectors, chargers including one
wireless model for iPhone X and iPhone 8 that we tested
in this article
.

With this acquisition, Foxconn will be able to extend its influence in the United States and
internationally but also put a significant foothold in the market of
accessories for smartphones, tablets and wearables, but not only.

Indeed, Belkin owns other brands like Linksys which is known for
providerouters, while Wemo is rather specialized
in theconnected objects for the homesome of which are
compatible with Apple HomeKit.

For now, Belkin and its other brands will continue to operate
independently from Foxconn and retains the same management team as currently
with CEO Chet Pipkin at the helm.
