The iPhone 8 and iPhone
the first Apple smartphones to integrate therecharge
wirelessby induction. This responds to the
"Qi" standardcommonly used in the field of telephony. The advantage
is to have the choice among awide variety of chargers
available on the market. But since the release ofiOS
11.2, iPhones support so-called “fast” charging, namely with a
power which exceeds the classic 5 W to accept a 7.5 W recharge.

But few chargers are available on the market with this power
particular. The manufacturerBelkinoffers a model dedicated to
iPhone, and "boost up", which is part of the 2 models
recommended by Apple.
We were able to discover and test this charger, here are the photos, impressions,
recharge time and iPhon.fr opinion on the Boost Up!
Premier contact
The particularly protective packaging opens like a drawer, with a
small strip of fabric:
And there, surprise! While chargers are generally colored
black, we are struck right out of the box by Belkin’s choice for this model
because he is white!
In the shape of a saucer with a flat surface and decorated with the brand logo, it
displays a size that ranks it among the largest chargers
(diameter of 12 cm)
On the top, a gray colored circle is actually made of a material
slightly rubbery. This, adherent, is used to hold the iPhone in order to
that it does not slip (this can sometimes happen on certain chargers, especially
especially when receiving vibrating calls!).
The same covering but this time placed over the entire base
recharge, will be used to hold it so that it does not fall from a desk
or a bedside table on which it is placed. The weight is 200g.
It comes with a specific charger. This plugs into the socket
provided at the rear.
We note the shape of the grip which, with its roundedness, fits perfectly
complete the curvature of the base.
The cable is 1.5 m long.
Usage and recharge time
Getting started is simple, as it simply involves plugging in the
charger into an electrical outlet. No button or switch, the
charger is ready to accommodate the iPhone, this is also indicated by the
switching on of a green LED placed on the side of the charger. She goes out
after a few seconds.
To recharge the iPhone, simply place it on the base. He must
is well centered so that charging starts. No particular sound is emitted
at the base but the LED again lights green. This one does not
does not light up if the machine is off-center, preventing correct recharging. This
light signal is practical because it allows you to be certain that the machine is in
load, at a glance.
The size of the base keeps the bright LED visible even
when an iPhone Plus is charging, this is not the case for all
chargers!
However, the LED is small, it remains discreet and does not illuminate
not too much, which is a point to note for use in a bedroom by
example.
Wireless charging time 7.5 W
Regarding the duration and speed of recharge with BoostUP, here is
the times that we recorded starting from approximately 1% residual load on a
iPhone X:
- after 1 hour: 41%
- after 1h30: 58%
- after 2 hours: 78%
- after 2.5 hours: 88%
- after 3 hours: approximately 100%
Here are also the times recorded with a5W Qi charger
standard, also starting from a machine around 1%:
- after 1 hour: 35%
- after 1h30: 50%
- after 2h30: 75%
- after 3:30 a.m.: 100%
In the end, we retain that thecharging obtained wirelessly at 7.5
Wis comparable in terms of speed to what we are used to
to have with thestandard 5W wired USB charger delivered with
l’iPhone. The additional 2.5 W is spent by using
electromagnetic induction, inheatnotably.
Temperature during wireless charging
In terms of temperature, here are the measurements taken:
Surface temperature of the charging base: 41.5 degrees C
environ
And the back of the iPhone barely removed from the base to get an idea of
the temperature reached: 38.8 degrees C
The temperature on the surface of the iPhone (front) placed on the base, in
recharge course: 35.6 degrees C
For comparison, under similar conditions, the temperature of the iPhone
X charging with the wired USB charger delivered by Apple (5W) displays a
temperature at the hottest point (rear) 28.2 degrees. With a charger
Fast wired USB type iPad charger, the temperature rises to the highest point
hot at 32.4 degrees.
During our tests, the charging station appeared very stable, it did not
did not slip thanks to the coating provided. Using the iPhone with a
Thin shell (silicone or plastic type) did not interfere with recharging.
In use, we regret that the LED does not change color when charging
is complete to have a visual indicator that it is time to
recover your machine.
Conclusion
Here we have a quality charger, offered by a reliable brand, which offers
what is best and recommended by Apple in terms of power
Qi charging for iPhones. Like other 7.5 wireless charging solutions
W, the charger is included with the base as 5W USB chargers are not
sufficient, this has an impact on the price which inflates compared to a
unbranded Qi charger. Does the gain in terms of recharging speed allow
justify this difference? It's up to everyone to see according to their own
usage
