Testing the Jumpdrive M20i USB/lightning key for iPhone/iPad

It is with
an amazing charging cable that also serves as storage memory

usable with an iPhone, iPad and a computer that has been started
tests of new products from Lexar. This week, we continue with akey
USB
.

But this, beyond serving as computer storage, conceals
alsoa Lightning socket so that it can be connected to a
iPhone et iPad
. You understood it, photo exchange, storage of
data, videos, music are thus possible even when the machine is
saturated in terms of memory.

Onward to testing an all-purpose storage solution:

The Jumpdrive m20i key,
the difference from the c20i tested there
looks more like a USB key
classic, except for a few details!

So, when it is not used, it is a white rectangle from which nothing
does not come out, but has two slits at the ends. This is where they are going
can be extracted from a male plug in proprietary Lightning format
from Apple, or on the other side a classic USB socket to plug into a
computer.

Here is a little homemade animated GIF demo to see the principle of
operation of the two sockets:

In terms of materials, no particular nobility for this accessory, we
is there on plastic everything that is most standard, almost light. But
no breakage to report despite use for several weeks. In
particular, during the first use, not really knowing how
manipulate the mechanism which allows the USB socket to be taken out on one side or the socket
Lightning on the other, we pushed it quite a bit and it held.

In fact, the use is very simple, but you still need to have seen it once.
times. It is indeed necessarypress the side partso that
the interior slides and reveals one socket, or the other. It works
without problem and although light, seems to hold up.

With the USB side out, we are in the presence of aUSB key
standard
. When plugged into a computer, it is
recognized without problem. Please note, the size, particularly in width, can
prevent it from being plugged into certain computer models
.

On the other side, it is aLightning plug coming outand fear
connect to iPhone or iPad. This then suggests installing
the Lexar app. It then becomes possible to transfer files
to the machine, read the content directly or make backups of
photos or contacts.

Be careful, as for the other side when using it on a computer,
thewidth of the key can cause problems when using a shell on
iPhone or iPad
. But fortunately, a (small) ledge allows you to
connect the key more easily.

When it comes to application, a vital point for these solutions
storage which must go through the in-house app, it isof
good quality and often updated
. It is the same as that
discovery with ourJumpdrive m20i key test. Pour
know how it works, discover its screens and its possibilities,

find the test here
.

In terms of performance, we measuredtransfer time
lower than those seen in the Lexar Jumpdrive key/cable
also.
Thus, a 1.48 GB file is transmitted from a computer (recent Macbook Air)
to the key in 1 min 25 (compared to 55 seconds with the Jumpdrive cable), while
that copying the same file from the drive to the iPhone took even longer
time: 2 minutes and 12 seconds (compared to 50 seconds with the Jumpdrive
C20i).

In use, we can say that this key is practical, the sockets are good
protected and benefiting from a good quality application, all for a
very low cost for this type of product (but very expensive for a USB key).
A practical solution therefore, which works, but we prefer
the 2-in-1 look of the Jumpdrive C20i solution
and its
speed, for a cost depending on the period of a few euros
additional or
even lower sometimes
.
