Test of the Oso Vent Luxe iPhone auto holder: discreet but effective

Inour test section,
we have already come across a number of supports to firmly fix the iPhone
in the car. This is essential for several reasons: practical,
but also safe and that’s no joke! Whether for
transform the smartphone into a GPS or a digital jukebox, a good support must
be welcoming and well established. As a result, it is often quite cumbersome. But
here is a more than compact model: theVent
Luxe
.

The idea here is not to use a suction cup and a bulky clamp, the
solution is to attach itself to the ventilation grilles of
the passenger compartment.

So on the way, let's discover the Vent Luxe in photos, as well as our
avis :

Premier contact

The support is particularly compact and simple at first glance. But in
practical, it has several elements which allow its hanging, its
orientation and holding of the smartphone.

In terms of manufacturing, this is a product in
plastic, some parts are covered with what is
wants (or is advertised) like leather. On this, we are not going to go in the direction
of a luxury and leather product, the latter is not really recognizable and
looks more like slightly worked plastic. But given the size of the product
and its use, not sure that leather would have the slightest interest here.

The whole thing may appear quite light, particularly at the clamp level, but
in practice no problem. It opens wide to accommodate an iPhone 6s
without any problem, even with its hull.

When we look at the support, we notice a small ball on the back,
this one is not there for decorum, no, in fact it is she who will allow
to manage the inclination of the machine.

Last piece of the puzzle, a small rubber gripper, it is this that will
come to cling to the ventilation grille.

Utilisation

The installation involves locating one ventilation grille at a time
convenient to access and visible, and which can accommodate the pliers, with a width
approximately 2 cm in length. The test carried out on two different cars showed
that in both cases we found a location without problem.

Then, simply slide the pliers onto one of the slats of the grid.
This forces a little, this is normal, this is the guarantee that it holds well (in
plus soft rubber used). Be careful, one of the concerns that we can
encounter is that the grid lowers downwards under the weight. It's necessary
therefore choose the slat carefully. In practice, one from the bottom allows you to block
the whole when it bends under the weight.

Once the support is fixed, we leave it in place and the phone will then
come to slide in quite easily, by pushing on the jaw
articulated. This is done with one hand, without problem.

The machine appeared well held, again, the same rubber as the
grill jack are used to hold the phone on the
sides.

Tested with a thin machine without case (iPhone 5) or an iPhone 6s Plus (with
hull, everything found its place and remained well held.

The articulation then allows the screen to be tilted towards the user, but
also if you wish to switch from use in portrait or to
horizontal.

Conclusion

In the end, while the product appears compact and discreet, being able to
doubt its effectiveness, it turns out to be very practical, from
moment when we find the right place to fix it
. The implementation
machines is easy and can be done with one hand, the orientation allows
to make the screen easily accessible. Fixing via ventilation grilles
helps prevent the machine from heating up too much under the windshield in summer,
especially since it can be cooled by ventilation. Conversely,
in winter it can be heated. We are pleasantly surprised by the
size/efficiency ratio of a solution that knows how to do it
discreet!
