Apple Watch Ultra: autonomy that can still be improved

As with the WatchOS 9.1 update which was released a few weeks ago, Apple is still working on the autonomy of the watch. Designed for use in extreme conditions, the watch now reaches 17 hours of battery life thanks to less frequent GPS measurements.

In a support document sent to teams present in stores, Apple explains that the autonomy of the Apple Watch Ultra was increased. It will now be 10 hours minimum with active use of GPS and LTE. It can go up to 12 hours for people who deactivate LTE.

The Apple Watch Ultra was presented by Apple in September at the same time as the iPhone 14. It is described by Apple as the perfect device for seasoned athletes. Resistant up to 40 meters underwater, the watch is perfect for diving. It was also designed by Apple for lovers of mountain hiking. Outings that can last several days, which requires the Apple Watch Ultra to be durable enough to hold out.

In addition to its durability, the watch is constructed of titanium, making it resistant to shocks and drops. Another very useful feature for hikers or divers. Despite these very advanced features, the watch does not really succeed in seducing people. It is now sold at €999.
