iOS 18: beta 2 is available (but not fully in Europe)

Apple just published this Mondaythe 2nd version of the iOS 18 beta. While the update was presented in all its aspects a few weeks ago, Apple is now busy publishing betas, in order to test the new features and correct potential bugs.

With the arrival of this new version, Apple notably announced that two new options should see the light of day. It's about mirroring the iPhone to the Mac and the advanced features of SharePlay. In both cases, these new features were presented by Apple during the WWDC opening conference on June 10.

Note also that Apple has launched a new beta version of its update for Mac with macOS Sequoia.

How to install the iOS 18 beta on your iPhone?

Features banned in Europe?

But these new features may not be available everywhere in the world. Indeed, Europe could be excluded from this update, for regulatory issues. Indeed, the European Union does not allow companies to maintain such a monopoly.

However, Apple does not want to offer the personal data of its users, collected with Apple Intelligence, to the competition. The Apple brand could therefore refuse to launch these features in Europe, in order not to violatethe DMA(Digital Market Act), a European law designed to limit the control of GAFAM.

iOS 18: what release date?

While waiting to know precisely the list of features available with iOS 18 in Europe, we already have some clues on the release date of this update. In all likelihood, Apple should first give us an appointment at the beginning of September for the release of new iPhones.

During this conference, the Apple brand will give us a precise date for the release of iOS 18 and other operating updates presented during WWDC. This launch should take place before the end of September.
