The next iPhone is at high risk
no longer have a headphone jack. In case the rumors about this
subject are verified, or to simply go wireless to avoid the
famous ball of tangled headphone cables, there are different solutions to
casque Bluetoothon the market, of all types, closed, open,
in-ear, noise-canceling earbuds, etc., and for all
scholarships.
In the genrecheap headphones, the iClever brand is
on the spot and offers an in-ear model below the bar of
30 €. These headphones work via Bluetooth, have a
internal rechargeable battery and include a hands-free kit with functions
dropout and volume control.
After various tests and trials, here are our impressions of this
product
The iClever Wireless earbuds come in a well-designed cardboard box.
complete. It includes the pair of in-ear headphones connected by a
flat wire (practice to avoid tangling), a USB cable allowing
charging, 4 pairs of additional tips to adapt the headphones to any
ear size, a very small explanation manual (in English) and 2 pairs
small pieces of extra rubber.
These small parts allowtheoreticallyto fit better
headphones in the ears. Everything seems to be of rather good quality and the
design is sober and quite discreet.
The right earbud featuresthe microphone and controlsof
hands-free kit, answer button and volumes capable of controlling
also music. The left earbud includesthe USB socket for
recharge.
It is on the right earphone that the “iClever” writing lights up to give a
indication of the status of the headset. It lights uprougeduring
charging and when the battery is empty and inbleuduring
that the headphones are working properly and that they are properly connected to the iPhone.
Holding and use
Concerning holding the headphones in the ears, in the case of these
iClever is pretty good. Even during moderate running, it holds up. THE
possible defects depending on each one (cutting, friction noises, sensation
isolation, ear sometimes painful) come more like
"in-ear" than a manufacturing or design problem.
On the other hand, manipulating the buttons will often havetendency to
drop the earphone. Also, iClever has provided a small mechanism for
rubber loop to slide under part of the ear (the cymba of
the ear precisely) to improve the hold. Unfortunately, after
different tests on several ears,it never had the effect
discount, the earphone holding only thanks to the depression of
the tip in the ear.
As for autonomy, the headset is announced for 7 hours of music and
5 hours of conversation. We measuredalmost 7 hours of
musiqueat varying volumes, which matches perfectly.
The sound
In call, the sound is good and the microphone volume for the interlocutor at
end of the "thread" is quite sufficient.
On the music side, from the first listen, we note a lack of depth, the sound
can sound messy and unclear at times. In the treble, it's quickly a party
to distortion. The strong points of the headphones are the very good width
stereophonic, quite generous bass and fairly decent mids
defined.
With an aptX compatible source (i.e. the Bluetooth codec allowing
better quality audio transmission),it's all the same
better, the bass gains in precision, the same on the treble side,
it saturates a little less and the top of the spectrum is clearer without being aggressive.
On the other hand, it's still quite a mess overall, due to a lack
dynamism in particular, and APTX cannot change that. We note that
the iPhone is not (yet) Aptx compatible, but some Macs are.
At this price, you shouldn't expect miracles either, these headphones
therefore producea more than satisfactory soundfor the
price, especially if we take into account the fact that they are stamped "sport"
and therefore intended for situations in which the sound quality remains
less important than fit and wearing comfort.
Conclusion
Impressions of this headset are mixed, as far as one can
note the good intentions on the part of iClever on various points, but
who arefound to be limited in practice by technology.
The price is rather low and therefore, iClever makes a lot of promises for a
product which, due to low production costs, seemsimpossible to
to have.
Already, the headset includes the aptX codec intended more for restitution
high definition sound. The intention is laudable, of course, but when the
earbuds don't really seem to be able to take advantage of it, it's not
definitely useful.
Then, the good hold is announced with this small buckle system in
rubber. In practice, it was a failure. Here again, the ad "for sportsmen
with improved hold" does not seemnot translate into
practical.
Why not choose to leave on a single front, that of the
good outfit for sportsmen, or that of good sound reproduction?
Despite everything, this pair of headphones hasa very good report
price-quality, particularly with regard to the accessories provided. Difficult,
in this range, to offer much better than that.
