According to several rumors,
the iPhone 8 could include wireless induction charging, but
iPhone 7 users probably won't repurchase a new model this
year, and would like to benefit from the advantages of wireless charging.
There are different solutions. We havecould see in a
previous testthe iPhone charging solution compatible with the
QI technology offered by the Choetec brand. Here's a new one, which will
further than just wireless charging, with a battery case.
The accessories manufacturer Mophie, known for offering for several
years of quality iPhone battery cases, has just released a model which
wireless charging, MFi certified by Apple and intendedto iPhone 7 and 7
Plus.
– The Mophie Juice Pack Air case is
available here
After testing and use, here are photos and feedback in ourseries of soon 300
iPhone accessory tests.
Discovery of the Mophie Juice Pack Air iPhone case
The case here in the iPhone 7 Plus version is matte black but it
also exists in four other colors, namelygold, rose gold, midnight blue,
and red. Importantly, she isMFi certified,
so no compatibility concerns to fear on this side andguarantee
two yearsby the manufacturer.
The whole is made up oftwo parts. Inside we
can see the Lightning jack that plugs into the iPhone and allows it to be
recharge.
Regarding the integrated battery, it has a capacity of
2420 mAh, so it can only ensure a partial recharge
of the iPhone 7 Plus. The latter has a 2900 mAh battery.
A button on the back allows you to know the battery level.
of the built-in battery. Grilles at the bottom of the shell allow the sound to
get through.
The case, although compatible with Qi wireless charging, is supplied with a
micro USB cable. This is used for a classic recharge,
knowing that there is no Qi base provided.
To be able to take advantage of the advantages of wireless charging, you must
must own or purchase awireless charging base
compatible with QI technology. We find some
from around 8 euros, with a wide variety of models.
The hull therefore has at the base, aport micro USB
allowing charging of both the iPhone and the case.
The case for the iPhone 7 Plus weighs103 grammes, et
99 grammesfor the iPhone 7. A reasonable weight that integrates
the wireless charging module, the integrated battery, and the protection against
shocks.
Installation and use
To install the case, nothing could be simpler, just slide
the iPhone inside the lower part, then close with the part
superior. Once in place, the two parts hold together very well.
To benefit from wireless charging, simply place
the iPhone with its case on a QI compatible wireless charging base and
the iPhone immediately goes into charging mode. Goodbye charging cable
to plug in.
When on the move, it is possible to recharge the iPhone using the
built-in battery, hold your finger down for two seconds
on the button located on the back of the case. The same operation stops the
recharge.
A single pressquick press of the button displays the
battery level remaining in the casethanks to four LEDs
white in color.
When the case is placed on a Qi base or plugged in via the USB port,
it is first of all the iPhone which recharges before moving on to recharging the
battery integrated into the hull.
In use, no particular concerns to note. In fact, we find ourselves
quickly ignore any charging issues! By getting into the habit of
place the unused iPhone on a charging base, you generally have everything
timean iPhone and a 100% on-board batteryau
time to take the iPhone with you. This then offers a long autonomy in
shift !
In terms of autonomy extension, count on 60% recharge of a
iPhone 7 Plus (once empty) thanks to the integrated battery. According to our tests,
thebuilt-in batteryof the hull takes1h and 45
minutesto fully rechargefrom 0 to 100
%.
But beyond this comfort of no longer worrying about recharging as
such, there are still disadvantages, such as the fact of notplus
have access to the Lightning jack. This prevents, for example, connecting
a wired headset. Wireless headphones or earphones likeAirPodsare therefore recommended.
We can also mention the fact that even if Mophie did its utmost to
refining the silhouette of its hull, this of course thickens the machine.
In the case of the already bulky iPhone Plus, the whole thing no longer fits in the
pocket of some jeans.
Avis
In conclusion, a mophie battery case with adesign
on, which allows you to benefit fromadvantages of recharging
wirelessso no more cables to plug and unplug. A battery
integrated also ensures appreciable additional autonomy for
take full advantage of the machine. It is aimed at users who forget
regularly to recharge their machine by offering an automation: the
place on a charging base and for those who need a battery
additional integrated to be able to finish long days of use of
their favorite smartphone.
