Beginning2023, Ikea will be among the first to offer accessories compatible with the new Matter standard for connected objects. Developed by Apple among others, this format aims to make the products that make up your home automation system interoperable. Including when these are published by different brands.
It is in this context that the Swedish kit furniture giant presents Dirigera, a white HomeKit gateway (this is the only color for the moment) and equipped with aport USB-C. From next year, an update will make it eligible for data transfer via Matter. We therefore imagine that it will be an item of choice to pair withyour smart blinds designed by the same firm, switches, light bulbs…
Technical sheet
Proposed against59,99 eurosin mainland France, the Dirigera gateway offers dimensions of 27 by 112 mm in a circular format which is reminiscent of that of the late Nexus Player orfrom the Freebox Pop. The design is relatively versatile and quite compact, with a charging cable almost two meters long. The only downside: it doesn't roll up into a dedicated case.

Of course, beyond the devices manufactured by Ikea, Dirigera will also be able to connect to the competition thanks to Matter. We can then easily imagine how to trigger a playlist to wake up gently in the morning, how to start an air purifier when needed or how to turn on the light at sunset from a single app: Home. The platform is accessible on Mac, oniPhoneand on iPad for free.
Not yet available
At the moment, the Dirigera gateway from Ikea is presented on the company's online store but it is not yet possible to order it. Or even pick it up in store. However, we can bet that it is only a matter of time before thehome deliveryis not available.
Ikea offers ease ofpayment in three installments without feesfor reduced budgets. With this, a mandatory two-year warranty protects you if you order in France.
