According to information published on the Chinese social network Weibo, often compared to Reddit or Twitter, the ultra wide-angle sensor of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max could be equipped with adefinition of forty-eight megapixels. A rumor which is of course not without echoing the potential move to the same resolution for the telephoto lens,anticipated for its part for the generation of headed mobiles which will follow.
The wide-angle, for its part, already displays forty-eight megapixels on the counter with the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. This is also the case on the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus. These four new models saw the light of day during a keynote organized last September. During the event, we also discovered the second version of the connected watchApple Watch Ultra.
No new feature for the FaceTime camera
However, these possible changes do not concern the FaceTime camera, present on the front of the iPhone. However, this is always satisfied with a definition oftwelve megapixelsonly. For comparison, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 offers thirteen megapixels with the front sensor, compared to thirty-two megapixels for the Huawei P30 Pro or even twenty-four for the Huawei P20 Pro, although released in 2018.
At Apple, twelve megapixels are the standard on the frontsince the release of the iPhone 11 Pro. Previously, the iPhone XS Max was satisfied with seven megapixels. In general, images captured with more detail are considered to provide better results for post-production processing. But not all opinions agree on the subject, with some preferring other measurement criteria such as the size of the sensor.
