Apple results: new records with iPhone and Watch sales on the rise, what to remember

After
a first historic drop in iPhone sales in 2016, and therefore
growth for several years for Apple, the Cupertino company has just
unveil its latest quarterly results for the fourth and
last fiscal quarter of 2016.

A very important and anticipated quarter since it corresponds to the end of the holidays
of the year and the launch of the iPhone 7, which but not only allows
Apple'sreturn to growth, withnumbers
sales records for iPhone and Apple Watch
.

Here's an overview of Apple's latest quarterly results, and this
what we must remember:

Turnover rises and reaches a new peak

Apple's turnover reached78.4 billion
dollars
over the last quarter, and17.9 billion in revenue
nets
. This AC is anew recordfor Apple, which
does better thanthat of last year at the same period, namely 75.9 billion
dollars, but not for net revenues which were 18.4 billion.

The gross margin rate fell from 40.1% last year to
38% this year. Apple now hasa treasure of
$246.1 billion war
, or 8.5 billion more than in
last quarter.

During the last fiscal quarter, Apple sold78,3 millions
d’iPhone
, which is anew record, and better than
the 74.8 million iPhones sold over the same period last year, which
represents an increase of 5%.

According to Apple, the iPhone 7 Plus is the most popular model ever
sold by Apple
, and model sales allowed the average price to
iPhone sales to go from $619 to $695.

iPad and Mac

Despite the domination of the iPad in the tablet sector with85
% market share
on shelves for more than $200 in the US, the
Apple tablet continues to recordsales in
drop
.

The Cupertino company sold13,1 millions d’iPad, either
adrop of 19%and 3 million fewer units compared to
the same period last year, which was 16.1 million iPads sold.

On the Mac side, Apple sold5.4 million Macs, either
almost the same as last year at the same period with 5.3 million Macs,
but this still remains a record for Macs.

The new MacBook Pros with Touch Bar arrived in mid-November, but it
seems that this has not had much impact on sales, we will have to wait for the
next quarterly results to confirm this impact.

Others

The category of products called "Others" at Apple, which includes Apple
Watch, iPod, Apple TV and Beats accessories, recorded a figure of
business down with 4.02 billion in revenue, compared to 4.35 billion at
same period last year.

However, Tim Cook announces that without revealing themthe figures of
Apple Watch sales hit new record
, suggesting that
this figure isgreater than 4.7 million units according to
analysts
.

Services

The Apple Services category which includes Apple Pay but also the App Store
and iTunes, recorded revenue inincrease of 18%
with$7.17 billion in revenue, much better than
the 6.06 billion last year at the same period.

Tim Cook announced thatthe number of Apple Pay users has
triple
compared to last year.

But still

Concerning the distribution of revenue between its different products and
services, the iPhone continues to represent the majority of revenue
of Apple with 70%, followed with 9% by the Mac and services, just behind
the iPad with 7% which now brings in less than the Mac, and 5% for
the “Others” category.

Apple records revenue growth in every country where the firm
is present, except in China, where it continues to record a drop in its
revenue which is -12% compared to last year.

Comparatively, the Cupertino company records growth in its
revenues compared to last year at the same period of 9% in the US, 3% in
Europe, 20% in Japan, and 8% in the rest of Asia.

According to Tim Cook, Apple buys around 15 to 20 companies per year to accelerate
the development of new products and services, but also improve the
existing.

The next quarterly results should make it possible to know whether the
new MacBook Pros with Touch Bar meet with some success or not.
