During the September Keynote, the Apple firm presented us with a futuristic feature of its new iPhone 15 Pro, namely the possibility of recording spatial videos whichcan be viewed on the Apple Vision Pro.
Until now, we had only been entitled to announcements from Cupertino, but it seems that recently, this is changing and the situation is materializing in relation to this novelty. Despite the fact that Apple has not made any statement on the matter, the code of the latest beta version of iOS has, as usual, betrayed the firm.
Since the Apple Vision Pro is not yet available, but the company added spatial video to the iOS 17.2 beta, theYouTuberHugh Hou wanted to try the new feature of his iPhone 15 Proand was able to make it compatible with a Meta Quest 3.
The world's first space video?
In his latest publicationYouTube, Hugh Hou tells us that according to him, his production is likely to be the first space video in the world (this statement is his alone). In order to be able to produce it, Hughenabled spatial video recording on his iPhone on which he previously installed iOS 17.2 beta. He then used the appSpatialify, which is currently in the testing phase on TestFlight. As a reminder, TestFlight is an Apple tool that offers creators the opportunity to have their applications or new updates tried by a restricted group of people, who have been designated to be testers.
Regardless, Spatialify allowed Hugh Hou to make his space video in a format supported by theMeta Quest, but also by other virtual reality headsets, or even televisions supporting 3D.
The video is publicly available
You can, if you wish, watch the space video made by the YouTuber. However, it is necessary to have a compatible device supporting 3D. The video can also be viewed in 2D, but that's not of much interest unless you like animals. Here it is:
