iPhone 16 GB, thinner design: P. Schiller asked about Apple's discussed choices

John Gruber et son podcast Daring
Fireball are well known to Apple enthusiasts so much so that the man had the
chance to interview, Phil Schiller, in charge of marketing at
Apple.

During this discussion which can be downloaded in
the next few days
, John Gruber asked his interlocutor some
questions that almost everyone asks: why iPhone 16
Go, why always want to be thinner… and Schiller’s answers in
say a lot about Apple's vision:

Gruber begins by asking Phil Schiller why Monday's conference
was so long (2h30 anyway). Quite honestly, Apple's SVP Marketing
answers that generally, the objective is to try to settle into a
range between 1h45 and 2h15. He adds that this time, they are
already had to ignore the many new features including the functions
power saving feature of iOS 9.

Further in the interview, it is the 16 GB iPhone and iPad models which
occupy the discussion. Gruber trying to find out why, in 2015, Apple
continues to offer so little storage space while the apps do not
that it's getting bigger and the cost of GO has never been so low. Obviously, Phil
Schiller defends Apple's position by invoking the cloud... which according to him
would compensate for the lack of local space.

Another annoying question: why always want to be thinner?
even if it means sometimes having to sacrifice autonomy? Once again, Phil
Schiller does not stray from the Apple marketing line for which he is responsible and
says that, in his opinion, the company has found the perfect balance between
finesse and autonomy. He adds that by adding a larger battery,
the device would be heavier, more expensive and take longer to charge.

The two men also quickly discussed Apple Music, the Apple Watch and
the Mac Book and its single port. In this regard, Phil Schiller justifies the choice
of Apple as a risk that may or may not please. For him, Apple must
know how to take risks and be aggressive.
