This is how “Find my Airpods” works in iOS 10.3

A few weeks ago, a developer
released a “Finder for AirPods” applicationwhich allowed to
find lost AirPods by measuring the strength of the Bluetooth signal emitted
by AirPods, however Apple very quickly withdrew this app without providing
explanations.

But now we know why, because the first betad’iOS 10.3available since last night for
developers, and integrates a functionality "Find My
AirPods
" to help usersto locate AirPods
lost
.

Here's how it works:

You must launch the Apple application "Find my iPhone", it will
display the user's AirPods in the device list and indicate
to this onelast known geographical position of
AirPods
when these were connected to the iPhone or Apple
Watch, because AirPods do not have a GPS chip.

Once the user is close to this position and the AirPods
are again connected via Bluetooth to a device (iPhone or Apple Watch)
which results in an icon circled in green, it is possible to
locate by making thememit a loud sound that will
crescendo
.

The user also has the possibility tosilence
the right or left AirPod
if he only lost one of the two.

To see if this alert sound is powerful enough outdoors to be heard
despite the surrounding noise.
