With iOS 10.3, Apple toughens the message for apps that do not support 64 bits

With iOS 10, Apple addedan alert to the systemto notify users when
they usea 32-bit appnot optimized for their device
equipped with a 64-bit processor (from iPhone 5s).

This alert previously indicated that the application "risked
slow down your iPhone
", indirectly encouraging the developer to
update by compiling it to 64-bit. This alert is only displayed when
of the first launch.

According to the developer who discovered thenew option to report iCloud calendar spam, Apple a
changed the nature of this message in theall
new beta version of iOS 10.3
and this becomesmuch more
worrying
for apps not recently updated.

So the new message is: "This app needs
to be updated. It will no longer work on future versions
d’iOS
".

If this alert is kept for the final release of iOS 10.3 (we are not yet
only at the first beta and everything can still move), it could strongly
encourage users to switch apps to perform the same task, unless
that the developer does not update it quickly.

The other lesson concerns the fact that it might no longer work
…Is this the announcement of an important change for iOS that will not
would it ultimately no longer support apps not compiled in 64 bits? If
this is the case, the urgency of updating apps for developers does not
is more vital now.

This warning message is part of an initiative launched in September
last year by Apple. The idea was to clean the App Store of all
outdated apps that haven't been updated in several
years. This resulted in the removal of many applications.
