iOS 16: Modified Messages are compatible with iOS 15

With the update to iOS 16 expected in public release this fall, users will be able toedit an iMessagealready sent from their mobile. However, this feature is only available for fifteen minutes after the recipient receives the text message, which leaves little time to take advantage of it in the event of a typo.

By testing the beta of the new software, however, another key advantage emerges: that ofintercompatibility of the tool with iOS 15, which is still installed on a majority of iPhones this June. We now explain to you how this looks on a model that is equipped with it.

Better than nothing

In reality, Messages will not directly “transform” the bubble containing the error as is the case with iOS 16. No; with iOS 15,a second message with this time the corrected text will be sent following the first. A very relative interest therefore, since it is already possible to do the same by writing the content yourself without fail a second time.

Note that as is the case for its equivalent under iOS 16, this adaptation is only possible if you use the iMessage format and therefore theblue colored bubbles. If their color is green, this means that you are using the classic SMS format. Another concern that the competition has been raising for some time now, especially since the RCS standard allows us to go further but Apple refuses to keep up with it.

Availability

Note also that this new feature - which went under the radar during the presentation of the Messages edition during WWDC - is currently only offered with the second versionbetad’iOS 16.This is reserved only for developers who have an account to publish on the App Store, as explained right here.

To be able to install the final version of iOS 16, theoretically lower in bugs, you will have to wait. It is assumed that the operating system will be deployed for everyone aroundseptember, when Apple will also announce the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro. They should include the same program automatically, as you can discover inour dedicated file.
