We are thinking in particular of Adaptive Audio, but also of a new conversation mode, or even faster selection of Siri (just say Siri and no longer Hey Siri). But this good news hides a little secret that we didn't necessarily see coming.
AirPods Max not powerful enough?
In fact, these new options will be reserved for second-generation AirPods Pro released in fall 2022. In short, this means that AirPods 3 and AirPods Max released almost two years ago are excluded. The news risks going badly, especially for a quality product which is still marketed at a price of 629 euros.
How to explain it? According to our colleaguesd’idropnews, these new features require the computing power of the new H2 chip added last year. This is therefore in no way a calculation on the part of the Cupertino company, but it cannot do otherwise.
Note, however, that AirPods Max and older generation AirPods Pro will benefit from the new mute and sound recovery features, presented by the Apple brand.
As a reminder, adaptive audio is a new listening mode that combines Transparency mode and active noise cancellation. Clearly, it is capable of alternating between these different options depending on the context, all without you having to isolate yourself. This is all the more appreciable when a mower is nearby, or there is work going on.
For its part, the new conversation mode automatically lowers the volume and reduces background noise, while improving the voices in front of you, when you start chatting with someone.
