This is certainly not the most anticipated change in iOS 18, but it seems to be necessary. In his weekly newsletter, Mark Gurman ofBloombergexplains that Apple plans to rename Apple ID to “Apple Account” as part of this upcoming update. This development would also occur on watchOS 11.
Apple often changes the names of its features
We do not know the exact reasons for these changes which would occur 20 years after the launch of Apple ID. However, when you add funds to an Apple ID, the Cupertino company already mentions an “Apple account balance”, and we can imagine that this is a more direct identifiable mark andthat this brings more clarity.
Recently, we also explained to you that this is far from being the first time that the Apple brand has decided to change the name of an emblematic feature of the iPhone. Moreover, its marketing teams always keep several versions available to evolve if necessary.
For example, VisionOS, the operating system of the Apple Vision Pro, was alternately called realityOS, XrOS before this final choice.
