iPhone and RAM: Apple would like 12 GB on the entry-level model

HASa few days of Apple's back-to-school Keynote, we are impatiently waiting to know thecharacteristics of the new iPhone 16. And yet, the latest “iPhone” rumor that is making a lot of noise at the moment concerns next year's entry-level model. But its content can be used to clarify the potential technical sheet of one of the models expected for September.

The information in question comes to us from Weibo, a Chinese social platform. She announces that the iPhone 17 of 2025would include 12 GB of RAM. In comparison, the current iPhone 15 only has 6. And according to current rumors, the iPhone 16 could include 8.

The evolution, 6 – 8 – 12, seems entirely logical to us, especially since it would be, thanks to RAM,support local Apple Intelligence capabilities, in-house AI arriving with iOS 18.

Because it isApple Intelligencewill initially remain quite limited, taking advantage for example of addons, including ChatGPT, and operating partly on the power of the Cloud, we imagine increasingly local uses developed over time, independent of Apple's servers and third parties. It is only in this way that the Californian's AI will be able to seriously differentiate itself from the competition and thus come out on top in respecting the confidentiality of user data.
