Apple now refuses to repair this iPhone model

Apple releases new products every year, then commits to supporting them for a period of time. This support meansupdate softwareof the devices in question, but also ofprovide repair service.

However, these services are not offered indefinitely. As soon as they have no longer been distributed for more than five years, the devicesgo into the vintage categoryat Apple. A transitional category of which old equipment is partfor two years, before being considered “obsolete”.

Vintage (or old) devices can still benefit from Apple parts, but the Apple firm does not offer labor on these. There are still certain exceptions. In particular, for users residing in the same state as Apple headquarters, in California, as the firm mentions on itssite.

In this regard, the lists of vintage and obsolete Apple devices have now been updated, with two products joining them.

Bye bye iPhone 6 Plus

Since September 2016, Apple has stopped sales of the iPhone 6 Plus. It therefore meets the criterion of 7 years after marketing and joins the list of obsolete devices. Owners of this phone cannot thereforeno longer benefit from any service from Apple, to repair it, or to change a part. On the software side, “iOS 13 dropped support for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in 2019“, as MacRumors specifies.

The iPad Mini 4 and the red iPhone 8 (PRODUCT) are now vintage

The small Apple tablet bearing the number 4 joins the vintage devices, just like the iPhone 8 and 8 plus in red (PRODUCT)RED. For Californians, this doesn't change much, however for the rest of the world, Apple no longer offers repairs for these models.

Last February,a slightly special MacBook was becoming obsolete, thus marking the end of an era.
