The information has just fallen, the iPad Air 2 and the iPad mini 2 have just joined the list of vintage Apple products. Remember that the Apple brand considers its devices as such after between five and seven years of marketing. However, this does not prevent the company from providing services and spare parts in accordance with the legal provisions applicable at national level.
The vintage list helps pay homage to Apple's history
As a reminder, the iPad mini 2 was released in 2013 and has an A7 chip, the same as the iPhone 5S, remind our colleagues at9to5mac. On the other hand, it does not support Touch ID as is the case with the iPad Air 2.
In fact, the latter was released at the end of 2014 and it has the A8X chip. The iPad Air 2 also features an M8 motion tracking chip which was offered on the iPhone 6 and 6 plus.
Remember that this classification in the Vintage category occurs regularly for products from the Cupertino company. Last January, for example, this was the case forle MacBook Pro 13”from 2012 which was the last of the brand to integrate a CD/DVD player.
This classification, if it is not really good news for those who are still equipped with these products, also remains a mark of esteem on the part of Apple. The vintage list indeed includes very big names from its history, which makes it a sort of pantheon of its iconic devices.
