SO
that the affair had caused a lot of noise for many weeks with this
trial expected by many between Apple and the FBI,
which ultimately didn't even happen, now the iPhone is unlocked
of the San Bernardino shooting killerrevealed its first
secrets… which would have nothing of interest in the context of the investigation,
for now! Indeed, according to sources from the CBS channel, it was
revealed thatnothing has been found yetIn
the murderer's device that could advance the investigation. On the other hand, this
what is more worrying is that the iPhone could have been cracked. Probably
that Apple would like to know how, but the FBIcouldn't even
answer this question:
Let's recap the case: end of last year, following the San massacre
Bernardino in California, an iPhone 5c and its contents interested the FBI
regarding the investigation. In order to avoid device blocking and deletion
automatic data collection, the federal services sought help from
of Apple, by asking them in particularthe
creating a backdoorin iOS which would have allowed penetration into the
system.
The disagreement between the Apple firm andfaced with this request led
until a trialwhich should have taken place at the end of March.
In the meantime, the FBI continued its quest. Information had been reported
according to which
an Israeli company specializing in data extraction,
Cellebrite, had then succeededto penetrate the iPhone targeted by the
FBI.
And recently, the Washington Post newspaper revealed that Cellebrite
has nothing to do with it, but that the unlocking is in fact
the work of a group of hackers.
No information has been released regarding this private entity
hacking specialist. As for the FBI, its director James Comey declared
not yet having decided toreveal the method used or not.
According to him, giving the flaw to Apple would have the effect of seeing
the apple company will correct it quickly, which would not necessarily be
a good thing for federal services.
According to other sources, the FBI may simply have
no right to reveal the method, owned by the group of
hackers. Finally, it could even be that the methodnot be all
simply not known to federal services.
What we do know is that the FBI, despite the lack of success in
the moment with the information found on the iPhone, continue searching and
necessarily hopes for a small advance in the investigation using the device at the
apple,after so much effort.
