Apple has been working for years onun iPhone Fold. This folding phone could become the number 1 competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Fold, today the most popular smartphone in this folding device market. According to recent information from analyst Jeff Pu, who works for Haitong International, Apple has chosen an “upside down” design compared to the South Korean product.
Concretely, the iPhone Fold would be built with a large screen that “wraps” around the case. Unlike the Samsung Fold where the large screen is hidden inside the device. Thanks to this design choice, Apple would have drastically reduced manufacturing costs,going from 3 screens to only 2.
Apple is not the first company to offer such a solution, however. Indeed, Huawei has already chosen this design on the latest version of its Mateson iPhone Fold in 2026.
With such a forecast, the analyst goes against the predictions of these colleagues. The latter had agreed to release the iPhone Fold in 2027 at the earliest.
Un MacBook pliant ?
In addition to the iPhone, which we have been waiting for, folding for years, Apple could choose to offer other models with hinges. This would particularly be the caseof a MacBook prototype, now under study. In his report, Jeff Pu explains that a 20.3-inch model is being designed in Cupertino. It is made up of two folding screens.
Jeff Pu estimates that this device could arrive at the end of 2025 or at the beginning of 2026 to prepare the public for folding products from Apple. It would be a way to open this market to the iPhone, which will arrive a few months later.
