“Let Loose” keynote: why were these 3 announcements overlooked?

Several announcements that we expectedwere overlooked during the Apple conference on May 7.The Apple firm, as expected, presented its iPad, its new M4 Chip, its connected Apple Pencil Pro stylus and its new keyboard, but it did not, for example,not talked about the Apple Vision Pro in France, and almost not mentioned AI.

Apple has ultimately not announced a release date for its mixed reality headset in France. We thought this would be the case, because in addition to Tim Cook's announcements in January, many clues pointed to an announcement during the Let Loose keynote.

First, renowned analysts including Ming Chi Kuo predicted that the international release schedulewould be revealed before WWDC 2024 in June. This is not the case for the moment, but there are still a few weeks to find out if the Taiwanese analysts are right.

Furthermore, Apple organized aconfidential event in Londonin parallel with Let Loose, where the biggest newspapers, media, influencers, and tech videographers from the old continent were invited, includingour colleagues at Presse-Citron. Everything therefore suggested that Apple would announce its release in France during the event on Tuesday May 7, but ultimately, no.

Artificial intelligence integrated into the OS

Apple has left us wanting more when it comes to AI. Since the appearance of ChatGPT, iPhone owners have seen competitors Samsung and Google add AI natively to their smartphones, but on the iPhone and iPad side, still nothing. We will have to wait for the presentation of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 next month.

Apple officially announced that AI would be at the heart of the WWDC 2024 conference in June, but we still expected some announcements from it on the subject during Let Loose on May 7. Expectations rose a notch a few days before the start of the event, notably when The Verge announced thatTim Cook would make announcements related to AI.

This was not wrong, but it was of course not specified that these were rather features intended for professional or niche use, notably for Logic Pro.
