Arcep has just published new maps to see where this coverage stands, the progress already made and what remains to be done to provide the best access to the entire population. These maps were produced using data provided by telephone operators, which are therefore only theoretical figures.
The use of this data by Arcep has enabled the creation of these maps which are a real “turnkey” solution proposed by the body.
In a PDF, the authority has gathered all the information in its possession on the mobile coverage situation in each department. The maps thus allow you to see the % of the department which is covered by 4 G, which operators provide this coverage, but also if coverage extension projects are on the agenda, they are annotated on the maps of the document.
Evolution and coverage
The document also allows you to see an evolution of coverage since 2015. Finally, it allows you to see, whatever the zones, when there are any, which are not yet covered by 4G (white zone or 3G zone only) .
Today, 4G coverage in France is on average 84 to 91% depending on the operators. Orange holds the first class in this ranking, it is the only operator to cover more than 90% of the territory. It is followed by SFR and Bouygues (87% coverage) finally Free “only” covers 84% of France.
All maps are available on the Arcep website, the link is right here.
