The new Fairphone 5 is much more durable than the iPhone

At the IFA show in Berlin, the Fairphone 5 was unveiled. Aftera new durable wireless headset, the manufacturer once again offers us a mobile that does its best to respect the environment. There are more than 70% fair trade materials under the hood, and the assemblers are entitled to better working conditions than at Foxconn, for example. This subcontractor is responsible for the final machining of tens of millions of high-end iPhones each year.

In terms of performance, the Fairphone 5 can count on an eight-core Qualcomm QCM 6490 processor, whose clock speed reaches up to 2.7 GHz according to the official technical sheet. To this, it will be necessary to add no less than eight gigabytes of RAM: this is more than forthe iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

A mobile to keep for a long time

With this, you should know that the new Fairphone 5 has long-lasting battery life. The brand explains that it is possible to obtain up to a day of endurance on a single charger, the minimum for a premium device. Allow only twenty minutes to fill half the battery via the USB-C cable. That's ten minutes less than the fast charging of the iPhone 14.

The Fairphone 5 is also guaranteed for five years, while the mandatory manufacturer's warranty is only two years in France. In addition, the mobile is very easy to repair and will receive updates at least until… 2031! For comparison, smartphones from Apple or Google rarely exceed five to seven years of support.

Teracube: another sustainable smartphone

Despite everything, Fairphone is not the only player in the sustainable mobile market. We can also cite the case of the Teracube 2e, financed thanks to a crowdfunding campaign and equipped with four gigabytes of RAM and also an eight-core chip. The device runs on the Android operating system, unsurprisingly. Count around 300 euros, compared to 699 euros for the Fairphone 5.
