Apple Glass postponed indefinitely?

Things seem to be becoming clearer on Apple's side. After years of preparation, the Cupertino company is preparingto lift the veilon its mixed reality headset, which condenses augmented reality and virtual reality functionality. The presentation would be planned for next spring before marketing at the end of the year for the launch of the next iPhone 15.

According to journalist Mark Gurman ofBloomberg, the Tech giant has however paused the construction of theApple Glass, these augmented reality glasses which were also eagerly awaited. Logically, these should have seen the light of day some time after the launch of the headset, around 2025, but the Cupertino company's plans would have changed due to technical difficulties.

For his part, a spokesperson for the apple brand refused to comment on this information from our colleague. Mark Gurman explains that AR glasses would ultimately be able to replace the iPhone by transposing most of its functionalities into the user's field of vision: notifications, mapping, calls, photos... We still need to find the chips, the batteries, and the software to produce such a device, all taking into account the autonomy which must be quite substantial.

Apple has not given up

For now, Apple therefore prefers to focus on its new mixed reality headset thanks to its team of more than 1000 people. But according to the American journalist, the Apple brand continues to allocate staff to think about technologies that would be useful for AR glasses. There is therefore always a little hope of one day seeing this new device see the light of day, but we will have to be very patient.

For your part, what do you think of this potential postponement, and, more broadly, of Apple's efforts in terms of mixed reality? Tell us in the comments.
