Apple announced a few hours ago the new winners of this second edition of the Apple Music Awards. The competition rewards the best artists in five different categories. Three of these categories, that electing the best artist, the best composer-performer, and the revelation of the year are decided by a jury of experts from the world of music.
The last two prizes, those for the title of the year as well as that for the best album of this year 2020, are awarded by the public, based on the biggest successeswithin the Apple Music application.
Lil Baby artist of 2020, Megan Thee Stallion the revelation
So the jury of experts mandated by Apple to elect the artist of the year decided to award this prize to Lil Baby. The rapper was already known in the US rap scene, but he really became known to newbies during the year 2020. Several tracks from his album “My Turn” took first place in the ranking of the most listened to tracks on Apple Music.

For the second prize of this edition of the Apple Music Awards, Taylor Swift won the songwriter of the year prize. She notably surprised her audience with her album “Folklore”, produced in full confinement and which marked her big return to the top steps of world pop.
Finally, the jury awarded the prize for revelation of the year to artist Megan Thee Stallion. The Houston rapper is hitting the screen at the end of 2020. With an album planned for 2021, and already two titles at the top of the rankings, Megan Thee Stallion has certainly not finished making people talk about her.
“The Box” song of the year
The public had for its part awarded without really knowing it the prize for song of the year, as well as that of the year. Thus it is the song “The Box” by Roddy Rich which wins the precious prize for song of the year. With no less than 460 million plays on Apple Music, the song was without context one of the most striking of this year 2020.

Logically, with the most listened to song of the year, the album “Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial” by Roddy Rich wins the album of the year award. It was he who had the greatest success during this very special year with no less than 1.5 billion streams on Apple Music.
Apple plans to celebrate these titles in style by organizing a big week of event around December 14. The entire ceremony will be broadcast onApple Music et Apple Music TV.
