The RCS have arrived on the iPhone, the problems too

Apple introduced RCS, the new standard that replaces SMS in its iPhones, but since this introduction, everything has not gone as planned. Many users who were able to send their first RCS from an iPhone have indeed encountered small problems.

If the functionality is currently only available in the United States (with beta 2 of iOS 18), not everyone who has updated can benefit from this option. In fact, RCS depend on the chosen telephone operator. As of this writing, only AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon have acceptedthe arrival of RCS on the iPhone.

Fewer features

Apple had not officially announced it, but the arrival of RCS on the iPhone would be without several flagship features. The Apple brand offers iMessage, its native service competing with RCS, so it is not going to make a golden bridge to this new standard. It is, among other things, for this reason that the Cupertino company presents a version of RCS with several fewer options.

Among the major absences we note the possibility of reacting to a message or even acknowledgments of receipt. But above all, Apple made the questionable choice not to includeend-to-end encryptionin its version of the RCS.

While the Cupertino company regularly boasts of the real efforts it makes to protect the data of its users as well as their confidentiality. With the RCS, she left a big hole in her racket, difficult to justify.

RCS soon in France?

France currently does not have access to RCS on iPhone. The apple brand has not made any official announcement on this subject but the standard could take several months to arrive on the old continent and in France.
