Some smartphone manufacturers already offer models with a fingerprint sensor integrated under the screen. While for its part, Apple has chosen the path of facial recognition, it must be said that for the moment, no competitor has succeeded in offering facial recognition as reliable as Face ID.
But the most reliable analyst in the Apple universe, Ming-Chi Kuo has just delivered an interesting new report, focusing on the biometric recognition of the next iPhones. Indeed, according to him, Apple would integrate aTouch ID under the screenof the iPhone from2021 models.
This Touch ID integrated under the screen does notwould not replace Face ID, but would come as a complement. The analyst claims that the 2021 iPhones would therefore be equipped with two different methods of biometric recognition.
The various technical problems linked to the integration of such a sensor under the screen would be resolved next year, to allow it to debut in the 2021 models.
Still according to Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple would use a variant of Qualcomm's ultrasonic sensor, which is notably used in the Galaxy S10. Apple's version would, according to the analyst, allow you to place your finger on a large part of the screen, instead of a small area.
He also suggests that if Apple were to ever integrate a biometric authentication solution into the Apple Watch, there would be a good chance it would be an under-display fingerprint sensor.
