The second developer beta of iOS 18.2has just arrived on iPhone. It notably includes an option to share the location of an AirTag with a trusted person and allows Free and Bouygues Telecom to finally support RCS, as SFR has done since iOS 18.0. However, the developer betas do not reveal all the new functions that the Apple brand plans to add to its operating system. This is why the most curious decide to dig into the iOS source code. That of beta 2 of iOS 18.2 reveals thatthe iPhone could soon indicate the remaining charging time.
Apple would prepare an option for an iPhone to calculate the remaining charging time
9to5Mac had fun digging into the code for the second developer beta of iOS 18.2. Enough to allow the media to discover a mention “BatteryIntelligence". So an iPhone may soon be able to indicate the remaining charge time. iOS would most certainly base itself on the amount of energy received by the iPhone, which differs depending on the charger used.
9to5Mac adds that users will be able to receive a notification indicating the time required for the iPhone's charge to reach 80% (threshold not to be exceeded to ensure battery longevity). Remember that there is already an option forstop loading once 80% is reached. You can choose to go beyond this by limiting the charge to 85%, 90% or 95%.
For the moment, it is impossible to know when this new option, which users would probably appreciate, would arrive. Maybe it will be included in the third developer beta of iOS 18.2, orwhen the public version is launched next December. Until then, remember that there are many tips for ckeep your iPhone battery healthy.
